This initiative, by a humanitarian activist group, was established to provide urgent humanitarian responses to the most affected communities—to restore secure and sustainable livelihoods. Totol was created in Raqqa in 2017 with a vision to build a self-sufficient society noted for its skilled youth—who could then enjoy economic and educational security.
The organization has implemented several projects which has had a solid impact on the lives of Raqqa residents, including a skills-building program to provide training in computer skills, communications and entrepreneurship for young people. The organization launched the “White Hands” initiatives against violence that affected 15 women in Rumaila.
It has also implemented “Al Ahwas Home Gardens Program” in partnership with Oxygen Youth Organization— encouraging locals to grow their own vegetables. This program alone benefited 120 families.
