HDF is an initiative launched in 2018 by a group of engineers, lawyers and teachers from Raqqa to help their community recover from the collapse of humanitarian and service sectors. Based in Raqqa, HDF has set itself ambitious goals. These include bringing peace and stability, while protecting civil, social and political rights.
HDF aims to become a leading organization promoting women empowerment and child protection, as well as supporting and protecting society’s marginalized groups.
Since its establishment, HDF has implemented diverse community projects in Raqqa—including campaigns on the importance of personal hygiene, raising awareness about leishmanias [a disease caused by the bites of sandflies], the installation of traffic signs near schools, as well as by liming trees in Saif al-Dawla Street to protect them from agricultural diseases.
